When you are responsible for hotel lobbies, restaurant dining areas, shopping centres, or leisure venues, customer expectations now extend beyond appearance alone. Today’s consumers increasingly value authentic green spaces and environments that actively support biodiversity, making artificial planting feel less aligned with modern hospitality and retail experiences.
At Scotscape, we design and deliver living walls and wider urban greening systems that help retail and hospitality spaces feel more inviting. Whether you are aiming to improve footfall for your shopping centre or strengthen your sustainability credentials to meet BNG targets, we work with you to develop a solution that fits your operational needs.
Commissioned by Shaftesbury Capital PLC, Scotscape delivered a striking living wall installation above Carnaby Street that softened the impact of a new roof extension while reflecting the area’s iconic cultural heritage.
Designed in collaboration with Brimelow McSweeney Architects, the scheme used bold planting patterns inspired by 1960s Carnaby style, alongside shrub and tree planting to improve biodiversity and air quality. The project was carefully delivered within a busy retail environment, ensuring minimal disruption to pedestrian footfall and street-level trading.
At the Bedford Hotel, Scotscape transformed the hotel’s external garden and interior reception spaces with a combination of landscaping and living wall installations.
Working alongside Trevillion Interiors and garden designer Paul Hensey, the project introduced new planting areas, feature seating, lighting, ivy screens, and a 25m² living wall to create a calmer, more ambient guest experience. An additional interior living wall in the reception area helped reinforce a peaceful and welcoming sense of arrival for visitors.

"Scotscape did an absolutely spectacular job of our Living Wall at Guardswell Farm, in Perthshire, Scotland. Their team were incredibly helpful, providing wonderful support from the outset of the project all the way through to the completion of the wall. It gets the most wonderful comments and provides us with great joy every day. I would not hesitate a moment to recommend Scotscape- we are over the moon!!! Thank you, from all at Guardswell Farm."
"Scotscape were great, they crammed an eight week project into one so that our jungle living wall would be up in time for The Jungle Book premiere"
“I just wanted to reach out and give my gratitude for all the hard work you and your team put in, both in the lead-up and construction!! I know the build was a mission, to say the very least!
The green wall looks stunning and truly makes the space. I attended the opening evening, and it was certainly a discussion point! It has also had a lot of interest in the past week of normal opening, which is the positive outcome we all wanted!”

Whether you are looking for a statement living wall or a wider planting scheme, we can help guide the right approach.
The level of maintenance depends on the system, location, and planting chosen, but living walls do require regular care to keep them looking their best.
Every Scotscape living wall system uses proprietary irrigation for straightforward plant care. As part of our maintenance package, we provide ongoing care to support plant health, irrigation performance, and long-term visual impact.
The cost of a living wall will depend on factors such as the size of the installation, its location, planting design, irrigation requirements, access considerations, and the overall complexity of the project. For a more detailed breakdown, read our Living Wall Costs Guide.
Yes, living walls can support wider sustainability and ESG objectives by improving biodiversity, contributing to urban greening initiatives, and helping create healthier environments for visitors, guests, and staff. They can also demonstrate a visible commitment to environmental improvement across retail and hospitality spaces.
