Urban Greening for Local Authorities,
BIDs & City Partnerships

Turn busy city spaces into biodiversity-rich landscapes that help meet BNG and climate targets.

Delivering Sustainable Urban Landscaping in Dense City Environments

Local authorities, Business Improvement Districts (BIDs), and city partnerships are under increasing pressure to create healthier and more engaging public spaces, while also meeting ambitious targets around sustainability and biodiversity net gain in increasingly dense urban environments.

From living walls and LivingPillars® to wider landscape-led services, Scotscape designs and installs systems that transform urban hubs and public realm environments into green spaces that people truly enjoy spending time in.

Our approach goes beyond aesthetics, helping to improve biodiversity and support climate resilience in urban spaces. Whether it’s a large-scale regeneration project or targeted interventions in high-footfall areas, our urban greening solutions are designed to create measurable environmental and social impact.

Supporting Your Environmental & Planning Objectives

Scotscape’s urban greening solutions are designed to help you deliver measurable environmental outcomes in a practical, scalable way - integrating seamlessly into existing infrastructure and wider regeneration strategies.

We can support Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) by introducing meaningful habitat into dense urban areas, helping to increase species diversity where traditional planting is limited.

We align our schemes with Local Nature Recovery Strategies (LNRS), ensuring that each installation plays a role in wider ecological networks and contributes to long-term environmental resilience across your borough or district. At the same time, our approach supports Net Zero ambitions, helping to improve air quality and create greener spaces.

By combining design, installation and long-term maintenance, we help you deliver urban greening projects that not only meet policy requirements but also create visible improvements to your town or city.

How We Work with Public Sector & Place-Making Partners

Business Improvement Districts (BIDs)

We help BIDs create greener, more attractive high streets and commercial areas that increase footfall and overall visitor experience, using solutions that work within space and infrastructure constraints.

City Partnerships & Placemaking Organisations

We collaborate with multi-stakeholder partnerships to deliver impactful greening schemes that bring together environmental performance, design quality, and long-term space usage.

Scotscape’s Green Solutions for
Public Realm & City Partnerships

Scotscape’s solutions are designed specifically to support local authorities, BIDs, and city partnerships in delivering greener and more engaging urban environments. Here are a few of the most popular ways we achieve this:
Living wall installation

Living Wall Installations

Living walls can transform high-visibility urban spaces such as town centre façades, transport corridors, civic buildings, and retail spaces into green landmarks that improve biodiversity and public perception. At Scotscape, we design and install living walls specifically for complex urban environments, working closely with local authorities to ensure installations are safe and aligned with wider regeneration strategies.

Living Wall Maintenance

Living Wall Maintenance

For public realm schemes and BID-led projects, consistency and performance are essential. Scotscape provides living wall maintenance services that ensure planting remains healthy and irrigation systems operate efficiently throughout the year. Our maintenance programmes are designed to reduce disruption in busy city environments while protecting long-term investment in green infrastructure.

LivingPillars®

LivingPillars® provide a unique solution for introducing vertical greening into space-constrained urban environments such as high streets and public squares. For BIDs and local authorities, they offer a flexible way to introduce nature into areas where traditional planting is not feasible, without compromising pedestrian access.

Landscape Services

Scotscape delivers wider landscape services that support long-term urban regeneration and public realm improvement projects. From integrated planting schemes to sustainable irrigation and ongoing landscape management, we work with local authorities and BIDs to create attractive outdoor environments that encourage footfall and support wider environmental goals.

Living Pillar Installations for Maidstone Borough Council

Working in partnership with Maidstone Borough Council, Scotscape delivered a high-impact urban greening scheme as part of the town’s wider regeneration strategy.

With £400,000 funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, the project focused on improving the town centre with a network of 19 LivingPillars® installed across key high street locations, introducing greenery into areas where traditional planting was not viable.

The scheme transformed previously hard infrastructure into green assets that create a more welcoming environment for residents and visitors. As well as strengthening the visual appeal of the town centre, the installation contributes to wider sustainability goals, helping the council deliver measurable environmental benefits while encouraging increased footfall and dwell time in the area.
