Living Walls and plant barriers to improve air quality in schools

21 February 2019

Scotscape sponsoring 'BREATHE' Sheffield University research project assessing best species for creating plant barriers to mitigate air pollution in schools.

Supporting continued research into urban greening is high on our list of priorities. One of the projects we are currently supporting is BREATHE - a Sheffield University Project assessing the best species for inclusion in plant barriers or living walls to mitigate air pollution in schools.

Trial plant barriers are being created at a Sheffield School and a Buenos Aries School to create a green screen between the playgrounds and the transport system. Air montoring systems are being installed to enable the researcher to accurately assess air quality both before during and after the installation of the plants.

Scotscape are supplying all of the plants for this project and we look forward to hearing the results which we will be keen to share with the industry and clients.

This research will enable Scotscape to further develop the functional horticultural content of our Living Walls, (Green Walls, Green Hoardings) and landscape schemes to enrich our work in the industry further.
