A small team of intrepid Groundscapers have taken on the challenge to walk 874 miles - Lands End to John O Groats in 21 days. This means adding nearly 90 miles each to our daily tasks, 5 days in and we are feeling fit already!!
For all of 2021 we are supporting Greenfingers – this is a charity who builds hospice gardens for life limited children and their families to use and enjoy, in a safe environment away from a hospital bed. They have 60 gardens across the UK and landscape industry leaders from Celebrity Garden Designers to Landscape Materials suppliers and garden retailers are sponsors and supporters of Greenfingers work.
Typically when there is not a global pandemic, the major annual fundraiser for Greenfingers named 'Garden Re-Leaf day' (on the 19th March) is marked with a big event – fundraising is a little different this year with sponsors of the charity and others taking on remote challenges. We chose this charity not only for the very obvious human reasons of wanting to support other parents and children who are faced with this outcome, but also because with gardening at its heart this charity recognises how beneficial nature is to supporting health and wellbeing both physically and mentally. This is where we come in! 10 of us (including the bosses Darren and Steve) are taking on the challenge to walk the distance of Lands End to John O Groats – 874 miles! From Friday 26th to March 19th –Garden Re-Leaf day. We have set ourselves quite a target – on top of work we have to walk nearly 90 miles each, our progress will be tracked to help us all work together towards this target - naturally the final outcome will be shared!!
