Scotscape Living Walls featured in The Oasis Garden at RHS Tatton – winning Silver Gilt, Peoples Choice and the best garden in the Future Spaces category.
Congratulations to Dave Green for his Silver Gilt medal win at RHS Tatton this year, which also won the People’s choice award for the best large garden and the best garden in the Future Spaces categories at the show. With predicted rising future temperatures The Oasis Garden provides shady spaces for plants and people living in an urban apartment complex with a south-facing courtyard. The garden has been designed to create micro-climates so that a range of planting can still be grown and enjoyed despite hotter weather, including living walls.
‘It was great to use the custom living wall panels, lots of the visitors were interested in the system and asked how it worked. We used custom panels to create the triangle shapes along with more standard shaped panels towards the centre of each section.
The garden was all about planting in sunny dry places and also in shady places with the shade created by the mound/pyramid structures. We placed the living walls on the shady side and planted them up with shade loving plants such as heuchera, tiarella, ophiopogon, ferns and sweet woodruff’ – Dave Green RHS
